Description

This simple, versatile stir fry sauce adds depth and umami to your dishes with a perfect balance of salty, tangy, and sweet flavors. Adjust the ingredients to suit your taste, and enjoy it in everything from stir fries to marinades.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (use tamari or coconut aminos for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (substitute with apple cider vinegar if needed)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated (or ½ tsp ground ginger)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil (or use olive oil if preferred)
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar (or maple syrup for a vegan option)
  • 12 tsp chili sauce (optional, for spice)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, for a thicker sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, honey, and chili sauce (if using).
  2. Whisk the ingredients together until well blended. If you prefer a thicker sauce, add the cornstarch mixture and whisk until smooth.
  3. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed. For more sweetness, add extra honey; for more heat, increase chili sauce.
  4. Use immediately as a stir fry sauce, marinade, or drizzle over cooked veggies, meats, or noodles. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Notes

This sauce is incredibly adaptable. To make it sweeter, add more honey or brown sugar. For extra tang, add a splash more vinegar. You can even add a bit of citrus zest for a bright twist. Experiment with different flavors to make it uniquely yours
