Description

A quick and easy green sauce bursting with the freshness of herbs like parsley, cilantro, and basil, blended with avocado, garlic, and lemon juice. Perfect for busy nights or when you need a vibrant, flavorful boost to any meal in just five minutes

Ingredients

  • Fresh Parsley – ½ cup, roughly chopped (substitute: arugula or spinach)
  • Fresh Cilantro – ½ cup, roughly chopped (substitute: flat-leaf parsley)
  • Fresh Basil – ½ cup, roughly chopped (substitute: mint or tarragon)
  • Avocado – 1, pitted and peeled (substitute: ¼ cup Greek yogurt for creaminess)
  • Garlic – 1 clove, minced (substitute: 1 small shallot)
  • Olive Oil – ¼ cup (for a lighter option, substitute with avocado oil)
  • Lemon Juice – 2 tbsp, freshly squeezed (substitute: lime juice)
  • Salt – ½ tsp (adjust to taste)
  • Black Pepper – ¼ tsp (optional)
  • Optional Add-ins: 1 tbsp pistachios or toasted nuts, a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat, or a bit of fresh jalapeño for spice

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ingredients: Rinse and roughly chop the herbs, then gather the remaining ingredients.
  • Blend the Ingredients: In a food processor or blender, combine the parsley, cilantro, basil, avocado, garlic, olive oil, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth, or leave it slightly chunky if you prefer a textured sauce.
  • Season to Taste: Add salt and pepper, adjusting to taste. If you like, add optional ingredients like red pepper flakes or toasted nuts for extra flavor and texture.
  • Adjust Consistency: If the sauce is too thick, add a small amount of water, a teaspoon at a time, to reach your desired consistency.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Use the sauce immediately or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Refrigerate: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Freeze: For longer storage, freeze in small portions; it can last up to 3 months. Stir well after thawing.
