Description

An elegant and simple apple tart recipe featuring thinly sliced apples layered on a buttery pastry crust. This classic dessert can be customized with different apples or flavors for various dietary needs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 tart apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Braeburn)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 store-bought or homemade tart crust (shortcrust or puff pastry)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough: Roll out the tart crust and fit it into a 9-inch tart pan. Trim the edges and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat the Oven: Set the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice the Apples: Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Toss them in lemon juice to prevent browning.
  • Assemble: Arrange the apples in overlapping concentric circles inside the tart shell. Sprinkle sugar over the apples and dot with butter.
  • Bake: Bake the tart for 40-45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  • Glaze (Optional): Brush the baked apples with apricot jam for a glossy finish.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute the pastry crust with a gluten-free option.
  • To make this recipe vegan, use coconut oil or a plant-based butter alternative.
